COVID-19 Update: Zimbabwe records 4th covid 19 death

An 82-year-old woman from Mhondoro, Mashonaland west province succumbed to COVID-19 early this Wednesday morning at West End Hospital in Harare, bringing to four (4) the total number of COVID-19 deaths in the country.
The woman who hails from Mhondoro was brought to West End Hospital by her relatives and according to the premier service medical investments (PSMI) executive director health care services dr Margaret Maulana she was screened at the entrance and her temperature reading did not immediately raise any red flags.
The hospitals’ casualty area has been closed to the public and the health facility has since been fumigated.
Health and Child Care Minister Dr Obediah Moyo confirmed the death of the 82-year-old woman saying the response by the medical team at Westend Hospital is commendable as they quickly activated the COVID-19 infection protocols.
The eighty two-year-old woman was never tested for COVID-19 prior to the hospital visit and her status was only confirmed a few minutes before she passed away.
The ministry of health and child care daily COVID 19 update for the 21st of April released at 9pm on Tuesday evening, had indicated that the country has 28 COVID 19 positive cases with 13 in Harare, 10 in Bulawayo, 4 in Mashonaland east and 1 in Matebeleland North province and three deaths.
