Two boarding schools in Mberengwa have been hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, with Chegato High School recording 59 positive cases, while Masase High School recorded 40.
Mberengwa District Development Coordinator, Ndeya Nyede confirmed the cases saying a team has been dispatched to the two learning institutions to conduct more tests.
Jeka Clinic, which is located near Chegato High School, is now being used as a treatment centre, while a dormitory at Masase High School has been set aside as a treatment and isolation centre.
Meanwhile, the country’s COVID-19 vaccination programme is progressing well, with one million vaccines having been delivered this Tuesday to take the total number of vaccines to over 12 million.
A total of 2 856 955 people have received the first jab, while 1 894 780 people are now fully vaccinated.
