FC Platinum coach, Norman Mapeza says confidence and self-belief will be key if they are to grind a favourable result against Senegalese side ASC Jaraaf this Sunday and book a berth in the next round of the CAF Confederation Cup.
Addressing a pre-match press conference this Saturday, FC Platinum head coach, Norman Mapeza noted the importance of confidence if his charges are to go past the Senegalese.
“Of course, we are trailing by a goal from the first match but football is unpredictable, we can overcome them, turn the tables and progress to the next round. I believe we have to remain positive and be confident.
“Self-belief will also be key as we eye the next round of the second-tier continental fiesta,” said Mapeza.
Mapeza also expressed concern over lack of game time but is satisfied with the effort put in by the boys.
“We are fighting for the country and for the FC Platinum brand so we have to put in our all. The guys need time to fully revert back to their usual form because if there’s no game time there won’t be that sharpness and it will be very difficult to get the results always especially now that we are inactive in Zimbabwe. Remember we are playing teams who have running leagues but it is different from us.”
vice-captain Kelvin Madzongwe and defender William Stima are, However, doubtful for Sunday’s tie after the duo picked injuries during training along the way.
The Platinum Miners are going into the match with a 1-0 deficit suffered in the first leg play-off at the National Sports Stadium last Sunday.
