A government’s effectiveness is evident in its responsiveness to the needs of its constituency and true to that, the commissioning of another fleet of ZUPCO buses by President Emmerson Mnangagwa this Thursday has given hope to the masses that the public transport sector is gradually returning to normalcy.

“We are grateful the buses are arriving and they come periodical one after another,” a commuter said.

Anther noted: “We are seeing them they are coming, I’m happy that one of the days I boarded a bus using ecocash.”

The Zimbabwe United Passenger Company (ZUPCO) says it is committed to address its customer base concerns.

“We have chosen a particular day each week to monitor how our workers are performing and gathering what the public think we need to improve,” ZUPCO general manager Tito Chirawu said.

The provision of reliable transport is espoused in the National Development Strategy One and procurement of ZUPCO buses is one of the strategies meant to ensure a sustainable mass public transport system.
