Communities now the Covid-19 weakest link: Dr Mahomva

By ZBC Reporter
WITH the country now having recorded 4 818 Covid-19 active cases as of this Tuesday, the community is now the weakest link in fighting the pandemic as the number of local transmissions continues to surge on a daily basis.
Chief Coordinator of the National Response to Covid-19, Dr Agnes Mahomva said there is need for communities to take good care of themselves to curb the spread of Covid-19.
“The dimension has now flipped it’s no longer about porous border posts and quarantine centres. The virus is now in the community so the community now needs to step up. Communities and individuals really need to work hard to contain the spread of the pandemic. Most of our cases do not need hospitalisation and are self- isolating at home we now need to take good care of ourselves, we need to eat well, eat vegetables and take loads of fluids,” she said.
This Tuesday the country recorded 70 new cases and all the cases are locally transmitted, according to a daily statement by the Ministry of Health and Child Care.
Twenty new recoveries were recorded and so far 104 deaths have been recorded since the first case was recorded in March this year.
