The CBZ Agro-Yield has rolled out the summer cropping season Command Agriculture inputs distribution programme, with all eligible farmers being urged to visit designated collection points.
“We are excited that the rains are upon us and we have rolled out the Command programme for the 2021/22 season. We urge farmers to come and register. We are issuing inputs including fertilizer, seed, fuel for tillage up to harvesting and transport to GMB, but farmers who have paid 80 percent are the ones eligible to for this year’s programme, while first time beneficiaries are expected to bring all required documents to qualify,” CBZ Agro-Yield CEO, Walter Chigodora said.
The programme, which is administered by CBZ Agro-Yield, has been modernised with farmers now being issued with an electronic card used to access the inputs.
“We have phased out the voucher process, and came up with this smart card – it is loaded with all inputs allocated to the farmer. What the farmer does is to go to collection point and just swipe for his inputs and go back to the land,” noted Chigodora.
The Command agriculture programme is targeting at least 290 000 hectares of maize, while Soya bean hectarage has been set at 20 000 this year.
