GOVERNMENT has implored churches to complement the Second Republic’s efforts in promoting the country’s economic growth and development in line with the national vision of an empowered upper middle-income society by 2030.

Addressing congregants from different churches at the Apostolic Christian Council of Zimbabwe celebrations at Muzvondiwa area of Zvishavane district this Sunday, Midlands Province Deputy Director in the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works, Mr Isaac Mutambara implored churches to play a key role in fostering economic development and peace in the country.

“Churches have a huge role to play hence, they own clinics and schools,” said Mr Mutambara.

President of the Apostolic Christian Council of Zimbabwe, Bishop Tobias Zunguzira confirmed that they are committed to working with the government in nation- building.

“As church leaders we have a responsibility to pray for the country as well as to pray for unity and peace,” he said.

The Apostolic Christian Council of Zimbabwe also pleaded with government to avail land to religious organisations for business projects.
