GOVERNMENT has encouraged the church to take the lead in inculcating values of entrepreneurship, production and productivity among congregates to promote national development.
Thousands of congregates converged at the Centre Zimbabwe Africa Headquarters of the Johane Masowe eChishanu Vadzidzi VaJesu Apostolic Church annual Besinayi Prayer Meeting this Thursday.
In a speech read on his behalf by Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage Minister Honourable Kazembe Kazembe, President Emmerson Mnangagwa said every institution has a role to play in the modernisation and growth of the economy.
“In this regard the church’s voice in rallying the private sector as well as micro small to medium enterprises among other economic players remains important. Meanwhile my government is sized with and remains focused on ensuring that there is discipline in the market stability of the foreign exchange market and prices of goods and services remains high on our development agenda,” said Honourable Kazembe.
It emerged that Mashonaland Central will received ZW$3.8 billion under devolution and this comes at a time the Vadzidzi VaJesu Church is promoting development through building schools and health facilities.
“We are happy to have this meeting after two years of being hampered by Covid-19. In terms of development, we are going to build a primary school, a university, a shopping centre and we plan to build a hospital which shall be a referral centre in this area,” said Shepherd Chingwena, Vadzidzi VaJesu Secretary General.
The Annual Besinayi Convention for the church which was pioneered by Mudzidzi Wimbo started on Wednesday and runs until Saturday, targeting to strengthen believers in praying and worshiping God as well as engendering patriotism.
