Chiredzi man in court for murder and attempted murder

A 28-YEAR-OLD man from Chiredzi is facing a lengthy jail term if he is convicted of murder allegedly committed in 2015.
Wonderful Manjoro appeared before a Chiredzi magistrate this Tuesday charged with murder and attempted murder after he allegedly killed one, Stephen Chikuchai and attacked Onious Chiombombise in a space of less than two weeks in 2015.
Manjoro allegedly attacked Chikuchai, who was on his way from a local bar on the 18th of June 2015 after a stick he was spotted carrying was found 15 metres away from where the deceased’s body was found.
Chikuchai’s body was taken for a post mortem, which revealed that he had succumbed to knife stab wounds and assault.
It is further alleged that on the 29th of June 2015, Manjoro allegedly attacked Onias Chibhombise in the bush where the latter was herding cattle.
The court heard that the accused allegedly pinned down Chibhombise and took out an okapi knife which he allegedly used to stab Chibhombise three times on the neck.
The accused ran away leaving the complainant bleeding profusely before he got help from a villager who took him to Mhlaungeni Clinic.
The matter was reported to the police who attended the crime scene and tracked shoe prints which led them to the accused’s homestead, leading to his arrest. Manjoro’s trial will resume on the 25th of February 2020.
