Chiredzi District Hospital has received intensive care unit equipment worth 2 million Zimbabwe dollars from a local sugar producing company.

As the government continues to partner the private sector in the fight against COVID-19, Chiredzi General Hospital received a major boost following a donation of intensive care unit equipment worth 2 million Zimbabwe dollars from Tongaat Hulett Zimbabwe.

The Company’s Public Affairs Executive, Ms Adelaide Chikunguru said they will continue to support the government in the fight against the pandemic.

“We are delighted to hand over this donation to Chiredzi General Hospital as we partner the government in the fight against Covid-19.”

Chiredzi District Medical Officer, Dr Brian Dhlandhara highlighted the need to train healthcare workers to use the equipment.

“We would like to thank Tongaat Hulett for this donation, however, we appeal to the government to ensure our health care workers are trained to use this equipment.”

Government is making strides to put in place proper infrastructure and equipment that helps in the fight against COVID-19 including the establishment of isolation centres up to district level.
