Chipanga, Chung, Hlongwane and others back in Zanu PF

The 353rd Zanu PF politburo meeting saw a number of members who were expelled for various transgressions being readmitted, as the ruling party gears up for the 2023 harmonised elections.

Among those welcomed back are former Zanu PF Deputy Secretary for Youth Affairs, Cde Kudzanai Chipanga, as well as Cdes Fay Chung, Makhosini Hlongwane, Tapiwa Matangaidze, Malinga Mpehlayabo, Taura Chiripamberi, Shepherd Makaha and Dorothy Mhangami.

Announcing the decision yesterday, Zanu PF Secretary for Information and Publicity Cde Simon Khaya Moyo said the members had applied to re-join the party through their provincial structures.

Cde Fay Chung, a decorated liberation stalwart, was recommended for re-admission unconditionally, said Cde Moyo.

Regarding the situation in South Africa, Zanu PF Secretary for External Relations, Cde Simbarashe Mumbengegwi said, “We in Zanu PF believe that sister political parties have got the capacity to deal with situations under their jurisdictions and if they need the assistance of Zanu PF, there are ways of so indicating.

“So, with situations involving sister parties, we have never rushed to interfere or intervene publicly. Should it be necessary, then it can only be done at a very fraternal and sisterly level.”
