Chin’ono denied bail, Jere appears in court

JOURNALIST and political activist, Hopewell Chin’ono has been denied bail by a Harare magistrate Ngoni Nduna.

Mr Nduna ruled that there are no new facts warranting his admission to bail.

Chin’ono is charged with inciting public violence, after allegedly using social media to rally Zimbabweans to stage anti-government protests on 31 July 2020.

Meanwhile, businessman and CAPS United boss, Farai Jere is appearing in court over allegations of fraud that prejudiced ZESA about US$4 million.

Jere is jointly charged with two ZESA employees for allegedly being involved in the sale of electricity meters using allegedly falsified documents.
