Chess Olympiad teams announced

THE Zimbabwe Chess Federation has announced the men’s and women’s teams that will represent the country at the World Chess Olympiad 2020 set for Russia in July.
As the clock winds down towards the 45th edition of the World Chess Olympiad to be held in Moscow, Russia, from the 29tth of July to the 17th of August, the Zimbabwe Chess Federation (ZCF) has already announced the men’s and women’s teams ahead of the tournament.
Farai Mandizha, Rodwell Makoto, Zhemba Jemusee, Spencer Masango and Emerald Mushore as well as Thabo Elisha, who will be on standby, will make up the men’s team.
The women’s team will comprise of Kudzanai Charinda, Christine Makwena, Linda Shaba, Refiloe Mudodo, Tatenda Zengeni, with Colletah Wakuruwarewa on stand-by.
Given the wealth of experience and international exposure the players have, Team Zimbabwe is expected to bring medals home as they do battle with the best of the best at the World Chess Olympiad in Russia.
The Chess Olympiad is a biennial FIDE rated chess tournament in which teams from all over the world compete.
