CHAN SQUAD: Warriors coach Zdravko Logarusic opts for experience

By ZBC Reporter
EXPERIENCE appears to be part of the core thrust of recently appointed Warriors Coach Zdravko Logarusic who included several tried and tested players in the 23-man provisional CHAN squad announced on Monday.
Recently appointed warriors head coach has given indications of what to expect after naming a provisional CHAN squad made up of numerous experienced players.
After previously enjoying game time during the era of Klaus Dieter Pagels, Devon Chafa has made a surprise return to the Warriors fold, perhaps due to the vast experience he possesses having won 7 Premier Soccer League titles.
Another pointer towards the thrust of experience was the inclusion of Harare City midfielder Moses Muchenje who has been around for a while.
To cement the new Warriors’ gaffer’s thrust of ensuring experienced players are part of the Warriors team is the inclusion of Harare City forward William Monondo.
The biggest surprise though is the exclusion of 2019 soccer star of the year runner up Ralph Kawondera.
While his Club FC Platinum has confirmed Kawondera is fit, the dimunitive midfielder has been somehow left out in the cold by the Warriors’ technical department.
Apart from the new players thrust into the fold, Logarusic has also opted for continuity with the bulk of the players that played a role in Zimbabwe’s CHAN qualification included in Zimbabwe’s provisional squad which will go into Camp this weekend ahead of the African nations championship tournament set for Cameroon next month.
Patson Jaure, Xolisani Moyo, Ian Nekati, Kelvin Madzongwe, Prince Dube, Peter Mudhuwa and Phineas Bamusi are among key players that have been retained by Logarusic who will soon get the chance of assessing the local talent at his disposal.
With the local league yet to commence, consultations would have been the key driver in determining the squad.
