Cellphones expose Mamombe and Chimbiri

By Peter Chivhima

The trial in which Citizens Coalition for Change members Joana Mamombe and Cecelia Chimbiri are accused of communicating falsehoods continued this Thursday, with cellphones exposing their lies.

Cellphones exposed that Mamombe and Chimbiri never left Harare on the day they claimed they were abducted and tortured by the state security agents in May 2020.

This was revealed by the state witness in the case, Engineer Tapiwa Christopher Kazembe.

Kazembe, who is employed by Procurement Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe as a spectrum manager, told the court that according to data usage recorded from the duo’s mobile phones, the two never left Harare between 2 pm and 10pm on 13 May 2020, the day they claimed they were found dumped at Muchapondwa Business Centre in Bindura.

Meanwhile, the trial will continue on the 31st of this month.
