CCC hooligans denied bail

THREE Citizens Coalition for Change hooligans who were allegedly involved in the orgy of violence that left a trail a destruction in Nyatsime area of Chitungwiza last week have been denied bail.

The trio of Precious Jeche aged 41, 62-year-old Misheck Guzha and Odius Makoma aged 42 who appeared before Harare Magistrate Mr Dennis Mangosi on charges of public violence have been denied bail after the court ruled that the trio could not be trusted with their freedom.

In his ruling, Magistrate Mangosi noted that the State convinced the court that the trio is likely to skip bail, hence it is risky to free them on bail pending trial.

The CCC trio is accused of destroying houses and shops with further allegations of torching the house of the ZANU PF Chairperson for Nyatsime area.

It is further alleged that the three also went to Chibhanguza Shopping Centre where they took advantage of the chaos to loot groceries and electrical gadgets.

The value of the destroyed property is estimated at ZWL5.8 million.

Meanwhile, CCC Activists Joana Mamombe and Cecilia Chimbiri have been given time by the Chief Magistrate Mrs Faith Mushure to go through CCTV footage at the fast food outlet where they are said to have been on the day they claim to have been abducted by State Security Agents.

The pair through their lawyers told the court that they needed time to go through the footage to prepare for their defence.

The duo is expected back in court on the 29th of this month.
