The life of Zimbabwe’s founding President, Canaan Banana came under the spotlight at the Canaan Banana Memorial Lecture hosted by the United MethodistTheological College in Harare this Friday.
Besides being a politician part of the First Republic after the Lancaster Agreement, Mr Banana was a renowned Methodist theologian said guest speaker at the event, Reverend Dr Solmon Zwana as he chronicled his theological journey.
Dr Banana’s niece, Dr Priscilla Misihairabwi Mushonga affectionately reminisced about her cherished moments with the late former President.
Born in 1936, Mr Banana died in 2003 and was Zimbabwe’s president from 1980 until 1987 before the then Prime Minister, Cde Robert Mugabe, became the executive President.
