DONATIONS continue to come through in Masvingo province as companies and individuals join the government in fighting Covid-19.
After receiving a donation of ZWL$500 000 from Tugwi Bream, Masvingo Minister of State for Provincial Affairs, Cde Ezra Chadzamira emphasized the importance of working together as a nation to curb the effects of Covid-19.
“As a province, we appreciate donations that keep on coming as we all fight Covid-19. This donation will be channelled to purchasing equipment for the province’s isolation centres.”
Tugwi Bream Project Manager, Mr. Leroy Murape implored other organisations to contribute to the noble cause.
“We realise that the government needs assistance to fight this epidemic. This is a global epidemic that came unexpectedly, and we felt that we have to complement government efforts as private entities in Zimbabwe.”
Meanwhile, Legislator for Masvingo North constituency, Cde Davis Marapira donated a consignment of basic commodities to 35 families living with disabilities in Copota, Zimuto area.
“We are mainly targeting 35 families who live around the school. This community is comprised of people living with visual impairments and they are unable to move to look for these basic commodities during the lockdown period.”
The beneficiaries of the donation expressed gratitude for this kind gesture highlighting that they are having challenges in accessing clean water for domestic purposes.
“We are facing hunger challenges at the school as well as in the community. We do not have access to clean water as well as a good road network. People with visual impairments need these basic things for them to be able to fend for themselves.”
“We would like to thank the government and other stakeholders for their continued support to the institution during the Covid-19 pandemic. Our wish is to have running water at our ablution facilities.”
The rallying call from the government has been for every Zimbabwean to assist the needy during these trying times.
