AMBITIOUS Premier Soccer League club, Bulawayo Chiefs have become the latest local football team to comply with Confederation of African Football club licensing requirements after unveiling their women’s team.

It will be an interesting season if the Women’s super league returns, as more Premier league clubs are unveiling women’s teams.

Bulawayo Chiefs are the latest PSL club to launch a women’s team, following in the footsteps of Black Rhinos, FC Platinum, Harare City and Highlanders who have already complied with Confederation of African Football club licensing regulations.

Bulawayo Chiefs secretary General, Dumisani Mantula Sibanda noted how the initiative will also promote local women football.

“The Chiefs women team project saves two purposes the first one is that it is a requirement by CAF for club licensing hence Bulawayo Chiefs is merely fulfilling that requirement and then the second purpose is that Bulawayo Chiefs as a club seeks to promote women’s soccer in the country and hence its decision made for the club to have a female team,” said Dumisani Sibanda, Bulawayo Chiefs Secretary-General.

“So what we are merely doing is affording the girl child and the boy child equal opportunity to develop their talents and play international football for the Zimbabwe national team the Warriors and Mighty Warriors.”

Meanwhile, the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League has released match day five fixtures, with Bulawayo Chiefs taking on Tenax at Luveve Stadium on Saturday.

At Nyamhunga Stadium, ZPC Kariba host FC Platinum, Harare City clash with Cranborne Bullets at the National Sports Stadium, Black Rhinos play Triangle at Sakubva Stadium while Yadah visit Ngezi Platinum at Baobab stadium in Ngezi on Saturday.

On Sunday, Caps United travel to Sakubva Stadium to play Manica Diamonds, Whawha welcome Herentals at Ascot stadium, Bulawayo City lock horns with Highlanders at Barbourfields and Dynamos have a date against Chicken Inn at the National Sports Stadium.
