Boxing tournament set for this Saturday

THE first boxing tournament in over a year is set to be held in Harare this Saturday with more than 15 professional bouts lined up.
Local boxing returns this weekend with the Peanuts to Diamonds fight night which will be the first tournament since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Over 15 professional bouts are lined up.
“The main purpose for this bout is to remove the rust from the boxers and get them back to action again. If you check from Boxrec (International Boxing Record) most of our fighters are recorded as inactive and once that happens international match makers can’t organise fights for them so the essence is to get their careers back online,” said Stalin Mau Mau, Boxing promoter.
Some of the boxers to trade punches include national flyweight champion, Tinashe Majoni, bantam weight national champion Tatenda Biiningu and Kudakwshe Chivandire, who is the female bantam weight champion.
