Botswana-based Kwaito-kwasa musician in Zim for collaborations

By Colette Musanyera

Botswana-based Zimbabwean musician, Zolasko, who rocked the airwaves with his collaborative act with Mambo Dhuterere is in the country for more collaborations with local artists.

The Kwaito-kwasa musician, who worked with Mambo Dhuterere on the 2021 hit song “Hameni Hlebana”, has been charmed by the music talent in Zimbabwe.

Zolasko says the collaboration with Mambo Dhuterere is one of the best after it propelled him to stardom beyond the borders of his country.

“I ventured into music in early 2000s and I have collaborated with several artists from my country, who include Vee Mampeezy, Slizer, Franco and Makesho. However, my collaboration with Mambo Dhuterere was on another level since it made me a household name beyond Botswana. The song Hameni Hlebana opened a lot of doors for me and I even received an award in Botswana,” the musician said.

The Motswana musician is in the country for another collaboration titled “Rithumenzi” with rising gospel musician Mai Zee.

Hameni Hlebana which was released late last year has more than 3 million views on YouTube and the video was number 3 on ZBC TV’s end of year top 50 countdown.

The song was also in the top five on Overview Radio Playlist in Botswana.

Zolasko is also looking forward to collaborating with Jah Prayzah, Winky Dee and Killer T.
