Players in the tourism sector in Bulawayo are optimistic about business prospects during this year’s Sanganai/ Hlanganani World Tourism Expo slated for next month.
The Expo will run from the 13th to the 15th of October at the Zimbabwe International Exhibition Centre in Bulawayo.
Zimbabwe is keen to attract world tourism traffic to boost the country’s economy and this year’s Expo is expected to market Zimbabwe as a destination of choice.
Chairperson of the Hospitality Association of Zimbabwe Bulawayo Region, Mrs Amanda Mathema, says they have engaged stakeholders in the sector to ensure that this year’s event is the best ever.
“We are so happy to have Sanganai back after disruptions by COVID-19 and we have engaged all the players so that we are at our best as we engage buyers that will be brought by ZTA. But we also call upon Bulawayo players to come in their numbers to support our event,” she said.
Traders in the artefacts section weighed in saying the exhibition is a lucrative exhibition for their industry.
“We have always been a part of Sanganai and it’s always a lucrative business event which we will always support,” said an artefacts exhibitor.
Another said, “Sanganai is our show and we want to be a part of it and have engaged ZTA so that we secure space.”
As the world gathers in Bulawayo to sample the country’s hospitality and tourism, hopes of economic benefits are high.
