Black Rhinos Queens through to CAF champions league qualifiers

Black Rhinos Queens are through to the final of the inaugural CAF Women Champions League COSAFA qualifiers after beating Double Action Ladies of Botswana two-nil at the King Zwelithini stadium in Durban, South Africa this Thursday.

Two veterans, Mavis Chirandu and Marjory Nyaumwe propelled the Army side to the victory which left them one game away from the inaugural CAF Women Champions League.

Chirandu fired the Zimbabweans into the lead with just four minutes on the clock and Marjory Nyaumwe on loan from Correctional Stars doubled the lead after 15 minutes.

It is somewhat of a remarkable achievement with Black Rhinos having last played competitive football in 2019.

“I am happy with the way we started the game. It is good that we are executing these plans as we aimed to score early today and it is what we did. Hopefully we can stay strong and go all the way. Remember, we said we are in the tournament to win it,” Black Rhinos Queens Coach Kuda Mutuwi said.

The Army side is still to concede a goal in the tournament ahead of Saturday’s final against either South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns Women or Green Buffaloes Ladies of Zambia.
