Black Rhinos fires Coach

By Lawrence Trusida

BLACK Rhinos coach, Herbert Maruwa has become the second coach in the Premier Soccer League to be shown the exit door this week after he was sacked by the army side.

Maruwa’s sacking comes days after Ngezi Platinum Stars parted ways with Benjani Mwaruwari for poor results.

Affectionately known as Jompano, Maruwa was fired this Wednesday for what the club described as “unbecoming behaviour during match days which has tainted the club’s image.”

While the club stated that it appreciates the work done by Maruwa, it went further to say the decision to sack the coach was made to save Chauya Chipembere’s brand, which needs to be safeguarded to attract corporate partners.

The club also cited matches against Dynamos, Manica Diamonds, Ngezi Platinum Stars and Triangle where they allege were incidents that contravened PSL regulations.

Maruwa is further accused of not taking advice from his technical department and disregarding technical meetings for reviewing the performance of the team.

He leaves Black Rhinos in eighth position with 31 points.

Club legend Stanford “Stix” Mutizwa has been named as Black Rhinos’ new head coach.
