Beitbridge Miss Rural pageant to showcase Venda culture

THE inaugural Beitbridge Miss Rural pageant is set to cast the rich Venda culture under spot light as models from the several villages battle for honours.

The rich cultural endowment of the vaVenda people is set to be showcased at the inaugural beauty contest to be held at Mtetengwe village in Beitbridge on the 30th of April.

Excited village girls said the beauty contest will show the world the unnoticed treasures of Venda culture.

“I am very much excited, and I look forward to this contest. We girls from the villages can even do better than our urban counterparts,” said one contestant.

Another contestant said. “We hope this event will be held annually so that people from rural areas are given equal opportunities like their urban counterparts.”

Beitbridge Miss Rural Organiser, Mr Allan Ngwerume said the contest, which is the first of its kind in Beitbridge will empower the rural girl child.

“We want the world to see what our rural villages have to offer in terms of models. We have mobilised from various wards to ensure equal representation. The girls will showcase the rich culture we have here,” said MrNgwerume

Winners are set to walk away with prize money and will represent Beitbridge at the national Miss Culture Zimbabwe pageant.
