POLITICAL analysts say the election of Zimbabwe into the 15-member Africa Union Peace and Security Council projects the country as a peace model across the globe under the able leadership of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Zimbabwe’s election into the AU-PSC shames the country’s detractors, they say.

Political analyst Abigirl Mupambi says the gesture flies in the face of the country’s enemies as it portrays Zimbabwe as a peace model of the continent and the world at large.

“This shows Zimbabwe is a model of peace to the world and continent in particular. A lot of enemies have tried to propagate propaganda on Zimbabwe’s current situation and this decision has answered them in no uncertain terms,” she said.

Another political analyst, Takudzwa Gambiza, said the move is a huge endorsement of the leadership of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

He said: “The election of Zimbabwe into the Africa Union’s Peace and Security Council shows confidence the continent has on President Mnangagwa leadership which is a cause for celebration by Zimbabweans.”

Zimbabwe is playing an important role in safeguarding peace across the continent through supporting the fight against insurgency and other security threats, including in Mozambique’s Cabo Delgado province.
