Asthma allergy and immunology lab launched in Harare

A LOCAL asthma allergy and immunology specialist laboratory has been certified by the Southern African Development Community Accreditation Service and the Standards Association of Zimbabwe amid calls for health stakeholders to strive for quality service.
With the government on a drive to ensure availability of better health facilities in the country, the Ministry of Health and Child Care this Friday presided over the certification of the Gamma Allergy and Immunology Laboratory which provides clinical services for various infections and allergies.
Speaking at the handover ceremony of certificates in Harare, Gamma Allergy and Immunology Laboratories Director, Professor Elopy Sibanda, said they are working hand in glove with the government to improve the health sector.
“We offer many services and it is a clear sign that we and the government are working hard to improve the sector, said Prof. Sibanda.
Deputy Minister of Health and Child Care, Dr. John Mangwiro in a speech read on his behalf by Dr. Justice Mudavanhu, applauded efforts by GAMMA to support the health sector and stressed the importance of the laboratory.
“The recently opened laboratory has multiple purposes which will help and support citizens,” Dr. Mudavanhu said.
Other stakeholders present at the certification event commended the tremendous work by the government and GAMMA in addressing health-related challenges in the country.
The GAMMA Allergy and Immunology laboratory focuses on providing clinical testing services for various diseases and infections as well as foods for allergy properties.
