Army derby on the cards

A scintillating Army Derby is on the cards in the Women’s Super league this weekend as third placed Black Rhinos host log leaders Chapungu Queens at Kaguvi Barracks in Harare.

Defending champions, Black Rhinos, who are just three points behind log leaders Chapungu know that another victory will take them to the apex of the Women’s Super League.

Rhinos are playing catch up after missing the first few weekends of the season due to COVID-19 related issues within their camp.

However, that has not stopped the star-studded team from notching an impressive seven wins out of seven matches.

This has left Black Rhinos Queens with 21 points, just a point behind second placed Herentals, who have played a game more.

With Herentals on a bye this weekend, Rhinos will be hoping for another victory to leapfrog the Students, but it is easier said than done as they face a familiar foe, on top of its game.

Chapungu Queens have been playing well and only lost one match this season against Herentals and they will pose a big challenge to Black Rhinos especially with the two teams having trained together at one point.

The match has all the ingredients of a thriller with Rhinos, who are yet to concede this season, fighting to topple their cousins, while Chapungu will be battling to be the better army side.

Elsewhere, fourth placed Correctional Queens take on Harare City in another potentially exciting encounter at Chikurubi Training Depot, while Faith Drive Academy host Scorpion Queens at Nyamauru High school in Mutare.

Yadah Queens are up against Chipembere at Yadah grounds as struggling MSU take on an equally out of sorts Black Mambas, with the last match of the day pitting Borrow Jets and Mutare City Rovers at Luveve.

In men’s football, ZIFA Central Region Division one side Chapungu, who recently parted ways with Head Coach Moses Chunga take on log leaders Shesham in a mouth-watering encounter at Tongogara Stadium this Saturday.

Second placed Telone visit Bishopstone Stadium for a date against MSU, while forgotten former Premier league side, Tongogara, who are third on the log, take on Dulibadzimu at Grisham Stadium.

In the Northern Region Division one league, the top three sides have tricky fixtures starting with log leaders, Simba Bhora hosting an unpredictable Ngezi Platinum U19 at Wadzanayi Stadium in Shamva, while Herentals make the trip to Kadoma to face Cam and Motor at Rimuka stadium.

Golden Eagles take on Chegutu Pirates at Chakari Stadium after Pirates were banned from using Pfupajena Stadium due to crowd trouble at their home Ground.
