HARARE’s Wingate Country Club is set to be a hive of activity this weekend as the Julius Robinson Tournament tees off with a host of the country’s leading amateur golfers expected to feature.
The annual Julius Robinson Tournament tees off at Wingate Country Club in Harare this weekend with clubs and individuals vying for honours.
The prestigious event carries national points which are part of the selection process for the national team and world amateur ranking points.
Zimbabwe Golf Association -ZGA President, Martin Chikwana is confident that this year’s event will be more competitive compared to the previous editions.
“This will be our second tournament of the year so we are expecting a competitive show since we have increased our golfers from 50 to 100 this year. More so players will be battling for points and order of merit so that they can be ranked better in the world Amateur golfers rankings hence you can see that the competition will be stiff,” said Chikwana.
The Julius Robinson Trophy is the second golf tournament of the year after the players took part in the Dugmore Trophy in Bulawayo where Michael Wallace came out tops.
