THE Bulawayo Basketball Association has set in motion preparations for the resumption of the sport with a pre-season tournament set for Khanyisile Courts this Saturday.
After two years of inactivity due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Basketball teams in Bulawayo will have a taste of competitive action this weekend.
Khanyisile courts will be the venue for a pre-season tournament which will see 12 teams from Bulawayo battling for honours this Saturday.
However, for the Basketball Union of Zimbabwe, the focus is on having a national league by 2022.
“We are the only association who do not have the national league as compared to other associations such as football, rugby e.t.c so we are planning to have a national league by next year.”
Mujuru also indicated that the tournament will be a good platform for raising awareness on breast cancer.
“We are using this tournament as an awareness campaign too since it is the month of October where breast cancer is celebrated.”
The association’s medical and athletes commission has been supervising teams as they work towards meeting the SRC’s COVID 19 protocols.
