All is set for Heroes and Zimbabwe Defence Forces commemorations slated for Monday and Tuesday, as Zimbabweans will have yet another opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices made by those who committed to the cause of the liberation struggle.
This Friday, members of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces were putting final touches on their drills and displays to be conducted on Defence Forces Day next Tuesday.
This is a day when the forces are given recognition for their role is safeguarding the nation’s peace and security.
On the day, paratroopers will be showcasing their skills and gun displays will be part of the cocktail of events for the crowds.
A day before on Heroes Day, families whose relatives are interred at the national shrine will be part of the commemorations.
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage, Mr Aron Nhepera confirmed that everything is in place for the Heroes Day commemorations.
“The main commemorations will be here at the national shrine. President Emmerson Mnangagwa will be handing over flags to dole families as well as awards,” he said.
All the country’s provinces will host events to mark the important days on the national calendar.
