THE Late Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Water and Rural Resettlement Retired Air Chief Marshall Perence Shiri has been declared national hero.
A sombre atmosphere engulfed this Wednesdays’ Zanu PF Politburo meeting which kicked off with a minute of silence in honour of the late Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Water and Rural Resettlement, Retired Air Chief Marshall Perence Shiri
The meeting started with Zanu PF First Secretary, President Emmerson Mnangagwa informing Politburo members of the death of Minister Shiri.
“I welcome you to this session of the Politburo as we meet under very solemn circumstances following the passing on of our colleague Politburo Member Cde Shiri.
“His death came to us as a great shock to all of us and is indeed a loss to the nation . May his soul rest in eternal peace,” said the president.
After the politburo session, Acting national spokesperson, Cde Patrick Chinamasa announced the hero status accorded to the late Retired Air Chief Marshall Shiri.
Burial arrangements for Minister Shiri who was a retired four-star general in the Air Force of Zimbabwe will be announced in due course.
