International visitors at the ongoing Expo 2020 Dubai have expressed interest in visiting Zimbabwe, creating hope for the re-awakening of the country’s tourism sector through aggressive marketing of Destination Zimbabwe.
World over, the tourism sector took a huge knock due to COVID-19. However, hopes are high that the sector will rise once again and for Zimbabwe the inquiries by international visitors who are keen to visit Zimbabwe is a good indication that tourists will once again come in their numbers.
After getting a feel of what Zimbabwe has to offer through displays at the pavilion, the international visitors expressed interest to have a firsthand experience by visiting the country.
“I want to see the safaris, the animals. There is a lot that we have heard about,” a visitor said.
For those who have been to Zimbabwe before and could not travel due to Covid-19 restrictions they are keen to have a taste of the country’s organic food.
“I just want to come and braai in Zimbabwe. The meat is so good. After Namibia, I’m coming to Zimbabwe,” noted another visitor.
The cultural corner in the pavilion is also proving to be a favourite for many, who are taking time to sample the mbira and other traditional games such as tsoro in Shona.
Hopes are high that the number of inquiries will soon start turning into numbers as Zimbabwe works on boosting the tourism sector.
