AFZ helicopter crash:President sends condolence message

The President Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa has sent a message of condolences to relatives of those who lost their lives in the Air-force of Zimbabwe helicopter crash which occurred on the 23rd of April 2021 in the Goromonzi area.

In a statement the President said the crash came as a shock ,more-so because it claimed the life of a child.

I learnt with sorrow and grief of a fatal air crash this morning involving an Air-force of Zimbabwe helicopter which was on routine training in the Goromonzi area.Whilst investigations are still underway,it has come to my attention that all members of the crew perished in the crash,

Even more heart-wrenching is the information that the helicopter crashed on a rondavel claiming one other life and injuring a mother and a child,he said.

The President also assured those injured that government will ensure they receive medical attention while the deceased will be given a befitting honour.

I wish those injured a speedy recovery. Government will do its utmost to ensure that the injured receive urgent medical attention while the deceased are laid to rest with befitting dignity and honour,he added.

In his message after the accident Commander Air Force of Zimbabwe ,Air Marshal Elson Moyo said a dark cloud had engulfed the AFZ .

We are deeply saddened by the loss of lives after the unfortunate accident.Our hearts and prayers are with the families of the deceased and those injured after the accident,he said.

Meanwhile the names of the deceased will be released after their next of keen have be informed.
