African Development Bank assures Zim of continued support

THE African Development Bank (AFDB) president, Akinwumi “Akin” Adesina paid a courtesy call on President Emmerson Mnangagwa in Maputo this Wednesday morning. He assured the President of AFDB’s support to Zimbabwe in view of challenges faced by the country, as a result, of climate change. President Mnangagwa is in Maputo to attend the inauguration of Mozambique’s President-elect, Filipe Nyusi who is beginning a second term in office following elections held in October last year.
ADB supports Zimbabwe on various fronts and last week the government received US$10.4 million for tax accountability and enhancement project (TAEP) from the institution. The signing ceremony of the grant protocol agreement took place in Harare between Finance and Economic Development minister, Mthuli Ncube and AFDB’s country manager, Damon Kitabire.
