THE wait is over as the AFCON semi-finals kick off this evening with a potential thriller between Senegal and their West African rivals, Burkina Faso.
Attention returns to Cameroon this evening with Senegal facing a date with destiny against Burkina Faso at 9PM.
The two teams seem to have had the best of preparations ahead of the tie with visuals from their training sessions on the eve of the clash pointing towards full strength squads.
Senegalese stars led by captain Kalidou Koulibaly, Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy, Liverpool forward Sadio Mane and Watford striker Ismaila Sarr were part of the training session as the Lions of Teranga seek to put the agony of 2002 and 2019 behind them.
In a pre-match interview, Coach Aliou Cissé said the Lions of Teranga are up to the task.
On the other hand, Burkina Faso captain and Aston Villa forward, Bertrand TRAORÉ, who missed the quarter-final clash against Tunisia was part of the training session and is expected to lead from the front.
The Stallions will however be without suspended teenager, Dango OUATTARA, a hero turned villain in the game against Tunisia in which he scored before being sent off.
As the West African nations clash, it will be a fierce battle as Traore faces Koulibaly, while Mane will be up against the impressive Burkina Faso and Bayer Leverkusen defender, Edmond TAPSOBA.
