All is set for the inaugural Heroes Marathon slated for the 10th of this month.

The inaugural half marathon will see professional and budding athletes competing in 5km, 10km and 21km, which is the main race.

The Museum of African Liberation in Warren Park will be the starting and finishing point.

The marathon is the brainchild of the Institute of African Knowledge (INSTAK) which is working together with Mr Pace Academy.

Museum of African Liberation’s head of communication, Joseph Nkani said, “We envisage a race where the war veterans will compete with the youth to share history, this is more than a race but it’s also an opportunity to interact and she the country’s history and we are happy to partner Mr Pace Academy.”

“We are happy to launch this race that means so much to the country there are posts of prices to be won and we also have special gifts for our heroes,” said the founder of Mr Pace Marathon, Collin Makaza.

One of the top athletes who has already confirmed participation is Wayne Kabondo, who recently won silver in the Air Force Half Marathon.

“We are grateful to have more races on the calendar and we are looking forward to it. I want to do better than I have been doing and I promise you nothing but a great performance,” said Kabondo.

Many top athletes are expected to grace the race.
