THE Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC), says it has accredited 572 Election Observers for the By-elections which will be held this Saturday.

As political parties enter the final week of campaigns, the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) says preparations for the elections are progressing well.

ZEC Commissioner Mr Jasper Mangwana said 572 Election Observers have been accredited for this Saturday’s By-election.

“The total number accredited observers to date is 572 broken down as follows: Local observers 526, foreign observers 33, local Journalists13. The Commission has made adequate procurements of all required equipment and materials including hiring of vehicles and fuels. Ballot paper was printed, distributed and published in accordance with the provisions of the Electoral Act,” he said.

Commissioner Mangwana also highlighted that voters rolls will be displayed at each polling station three days before Election Day.

“The training of electoral officials is underway and is scheduled to be completed by 23March 2022. Voter’s rolls will be at polling stations a few days before the Election Day such that the electorate will have time to inspect. Results will be displayed at polling stations while ZEC social platforms will be used to announce some of the results. We can safely say we are ready for the By-election,” he added.

Zimbabwe is set to hold by-elections this Saturday to fill 28 parliamentary and more than 100 council seats.
