Highfield community fights water shortages

Due to perennial water challenges in the face of COVID-19 in the Western Suburbs of Harare, the Highfield Community has ganged up against the crisis.
Highfield Community Development(HCD) has come together to alleviate the challenge and drilled at least six boreholes.
Two boreholes have been drilled at Zimbabwe grounds, one in Western Triangle, and others Cannan and Cherima.
Speaking to ZBC News Anthony Chamunorwa Mutarwa said the initiative was meant to help the community.
“We grew up in Highfield and we have decided to give back to our community as it is our responsibility to bring safe and clean water,” Mutarwa said.
Secretary General of the project Percy Willow said they are looking forward to having other projects as a community with plans to built a Childrens home already in the pipeline,s” Willow said.
Project Trustee, Tichaona Tapera said the community has gladly welcomed the projects.
“We are very happy as a community, the project has helped to reduce water challenges in the face of COVID-19,” Tapera said.
“It is our dream to do other projects.”
The project has also attracted the diaspora community and appointed International Cordinator Lynn Dadirai Ndikoko for more community based projects.
