28 people were injured after a ZUPCO bus veered off the road and crashed along the Mavhuradonha mountain descent in Mbire on Tuesday.
10 people were seriously injured, while 18 sustained minor injuries after a ZUPCO bus veered off the road, hit a rock and rolled three times before landing on its roof at Mahuwe in Mbire district.
ZRP Mashonaland Central Provincial Spokesperson, Inspector Milton Mundembe said the driver of the bus, Danai Karamba lost control on a sharp curve while descending the steep Mavhuradonha Mountain.
“There were 62 passengers on board, and 34 escaped unhurt whilst 28 were injured of which 18 had minor injuries and were treated and discharged at Mahuwe clinic. We urge bus drivers and other motorist to exercise extreme caution especially when they are descending or ascending on sharp steep slopes,” he said.
The Golden Dragon bus was extensively damaged and awaits VID inspection.
