A 33 year old physically challenged Chipinge man who fatally stabbed a police officer last year has been handed a 25 year jail term following his conviction for murder.
Lloyd Mahovana Mabiti who killed a police officer while resisting arrest for drinking an illicit brew was convicted of murder by Mutare High Court Judge, Justice Isaac Muzenda this Thursday.
Facts are that on the 13th of June last year, Mabiti was on his wheelchair drinking an illicit brew with his friends when the now deceased Constable Nobody Kadeya approached the group and advised them they were under arrest.
Constable Kadeya advised them that they should proceed to the police station but Mabiti failed to comply which led Kadeya to forcibly push him in his wheelchair to his vehicle which was parked near the bottle store.
Upon arrival at the parked car, Mabiti then produced a knife which he used to stab Kadeya on the chest, shoulder and mouth killing him instantly.
