23 foreign based players confirm availability for Afcon qualifiers

23 players have confirmed their availability for the Warriors’ Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Botswana and Zambia at the end of this month.
The Warriors’ preparations for the Africa Cup of Nations – AFCON qualifiers against Botswana and Zambia have been set in motion with the local contingent made up of the technical department and goalkeeper Ariel Sibanda already in an isolated camp.
With the match against Botswana at Francistown Stadium set for next week, twenty-three foreign-based players have confirmed their availability, with the first group expected to arrive in the country this Saturday.
While the availability of players is somewhat encouraging, the team is facing a new challenge.
“We had planned to leave on the 24th for Botswana but we are facing challenges to secure flights from Gaborone to Francistown on the 24th, the only flight that is there leaves in the morning and we can’t make it , we had also opted to fly on the 25th but again there are no connecting flights. So we have notified the Botswana FA because it is their duty to provide us with transport to the match venue,” revealed Wellington Mpandare, the Warriors General Manager.
Meanwhile, eight players based in England and France including Marvelous Nakamba, Tino Kadewere and Marshall Munetsi will not be available due to travel restrictions related to the Covid-19 pandemic.
