Preparations for the August 2022 National Population and Housing Census are currently underway and the mapping exercise is being conducted countrywide.
This was said by the Director-General of ZIMSTAT, Taguma Mahonde this Friday at a press conference to inform the nation on this significant national exercise. The Zimbabwe Population and Housing Census is set to be conducted in August 2022 in accordance with the Census and Statistics Act [Chapter 10:29] which stipulates that a National Census shall be carried out every 10 years. The 2022 Census will be the fifth Population Census since independence.
“Although ZIMSTAT is the main implementing agency, this national exercise requires the support of everyone to ensure it’s success,” said Mahonde.
Zimbabwe last held its census in 2012 and the country’s population was 13 061 239. The figure was an increase of 10.9 percent from the previous census which had been held in 2002.
