South Africa-based 12k Energy Group says it will be setting up a plant to produce electric buses and eScooter vehicles as well as a bonded warehouse for three-wheeler eScooters in Chishawasha.
In a press release, Group Chief Executive Officer, Professor Blessings Chitsenga says the investment is part of the recently announced US$2.6b intended for investment in electrical vehicles and battery manufacturing in Zambia and Botswana.
This investment will also cover the cost of setting up a southern Africa regional office for 12K Energy Group in Lusaka, Zambia.
“Our investment in Zimbabwe is our affirmation of the investment climate in the country”, says Professor Chitsenga, adding, “We are aware that Zimbabweans are ready to embrace renewable energy and the idea of sustainability as the world battles the adverse effects of climate change and the opportunities the phenomenon poses.”
12K Energy Group, with Head Quarters in South Africa and in operation for the past ten years, is focused on rolling out eMobility and renewable energy solutions across the African continent.
The company is currently rolling out operations in some parts of west, east and central Africa.
The Group’s strategic vision is to play a part in the actualization of the Africa Continental Free Trade Area that challenges the private sector in Africa to seize the opportunities the initiative presents.
